Send your tax documents without putting them in an email
Clients of JNG Tax & Advisory upload W-2s, 1099s, K-1s and everything else through an encrypted portal. There is no account to create and nothing to install — you get a private link and a password, and you can upload straight from your phone.
Already have your link? Open the link itself — it goes straight to your folder and needs no login. This page is only here to explain how it works.
How it works
Four steps, and only two of them are yours.
Ask for your link
Email or call the office. You get a link to your own folder, and the password comes separately by text or phone.
Open it and enter the password
Works in any phone or desktop browser. No account, no app, no username to remember.
Upload as documents arrive
Drag in files or photograph them with your phone. Come back to the same link whenever the next 1099 shows up in the mail.
Collect your return
When the return is ready you get a second link to download the finished documents.
Why not just email them?
Because of what is printed on the documents. A single W-2 carries your Social Security number, your employer, and your wages — which is very nearly the complete set of facts someone needs to file a fraudulent return in your name and collect your refund before you do.
Email is built to keep copies. Once you attach a W-2 and hit send, that file is in your sent folder indefinitely, in the recipient's inbox indefinitely, and on every phone and laptop signed into either account. It is searchable, it gets backed up, and it survives any password change. Years later, a breach of either mailbox exposes it.
An upload link inverts all of that. The document goes directly into your client file rather than into a mailbox, the link expires, and it can be switched off the moment it is no longer needed.
If you have already emailed tax documents, you are not in trouble. Delete them from your sent folder and empty the trash, then send them again through the portal. Going forward, the portal is the path — and if you ever get an email that appears to come from this office asking you to send a Social Security number or a bank account number by reply, call (732) 858-0894 before you answer it.
What to send
Send what applies to you. It is better to upload something unnecessary than to leave something out.

Phone photos are fine. Lay the form flat on a dark surface in good light and make sure all four corners are in the frame. If the numbers are readable when you zoom in, it is good enough. If a figure cannot be read with confidence you will be asked for that page again — which takes longer than retaking the photo now.
How your documents are protected
The portal runs on the firm's own server rather than a consumer file-sharing account, so client files are not mixed in with anyone's personal storage.
Encrypted in transit
Every connection to the portal is HTTPS. Documents are never sent as email attachments.
Password-protected links
Every link requires a password, and the password is sent separately from the link.
Links expire
Links stop working automatically — normally after 30 days — and can be revoked sooner at any time.
One folder per client
A link reaches only that client's folder. It cannot be used to browse anything else.
Uploads cannot be deleted
Once a document lands in your folder, an upload link cannot remove it. Nothing gets erased by accident.
Two-factor for staff
Firm accounts require a second factor at login. Client links never touch a staff password.
Access is logged
Uploads and downloads are recorded with the time and originating address, so there is a record of who touched what.
Backed up nightly
The document store is backed up every night, so a hardware failure does not cost you your paperwork.
Questions clients ask
Is it safe to email tax documents to my accountant?
Ordinary email is a poor way to send tax documents. A W-2 or 1099 carries your Social Security number, your employer, and your income — everything needed to file a fraudulent return in your name. Email attachments sit permanently in your sent folder and your accountant's inbox, get copied to every device signed into those accounts, and are exposed by any future breach of either mailbox. A secure upload link avoids all of that: the document goes straight into the client file, and the link stops working after it expires.
Do I need to create an account or a password?
No. You receive a private link and a password for your file only. There is no account to register, nothing to install, and no username to remember. The link works in a phone browser, so most clients photograph documents and upload them straight from their phone.
What tax documents should I upload?
Send your W-2s, all 1099 forms including 1099-NEC, 1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-B and 1099-R, any K-1s from partnerships or S-corporations, Form 1098 for mortgage interest, 1098-T for tuition, SSA-1099 for Social Security, closing statements from any property bought or sold, and last year's tax return if JNG did not prepare it. If you are self-employed, also send your income and expense summary and any records of estimated tax payments.
How long does my upload link stay active?
Links expire automatically, normally after 30 days, and can be shut off sooner. You can upload as many times as you like while the link is live, so there is no need to wait until you have gathered everything. If your link has expired, call or email and a new one is issued in under a minute.
Can other clients see my documents?
No. Each client has a separate folder, and each link reaches only that one folder. A link never exposes anything outside it, and links are not guessable.
Can I send a photo of a document instead of a scan?
Yes. A phone photo is fine as long as all four corners of the form are visible, the page is flat, and the numbers are readable when you zoom in. Photograph documents on a dark surface in good light. If a figure cannot be read with confidence you will be asked for that page again, which costs more time than retaking the photo now.
What if I lose the password?
Call (732) 858-0894 or email the office. The old link is revoked and a new one issued. Passwords are never reused between clients, so a lost password affects only your own link.
What happens to my documents after my return is filed?
They stay in your client folder on the firm's server, so they are available for future filings, amended returns, and any IRS correspondence. The links you were sent expire, so the material is no longer reachable from outside. Client information is treated as confidential and is not disclosed except as you authorize or the law requires.
Can I use the portal if I am not a client yet?
Yes — that is often the first step. Book a free 15-minute consultation or call (732) 858-0894, and if it makes sense to work together you will receive an upload link before your first real appointment so nothing has to be gathered twice.
